[A charming smile greets the 'net as Jack quickly figures out how to use the datapad like a pro. It seems he also figured out the droid as he's currently wearing clothes closest to what he's used to, including a large blue greatcoat.]This is such a blast from my past. Datapads, holoprojectors... I almost feel like I'm back at the Agency. Anyway ( Read more... )

Ah, welcome to Coruscant, Captain.

Yep. I've had an interesting life. [smile]

But you look like you've had an interesting life as well... Do you have a name?

Interesting is certainly one way to look at it. I'd say in recent years it has been though. Kurt Wagner.

So, what's your present like?

Nice to meet you Kurt. [Smiles sincerely, accepting Kurt's appearance with no reaction, then chuckles.]

My immediate past was on a planet named Earth in the early 21st century. It got a little worrisome for a moment, but things are better now. This displacement actually fell at a mostly reasonable moment. Had it happened a month earlier things could have gotten very hairy.

[Shrugs]

And yours?

[It fills him with warm fuzzy, it really does. He listens and tilts his head a little.]

Well, my present before here was on Earth during the 20th century. There's always something going on. I was looking forward to a small vacation before going back to my old home and then, here I am.

Yeah it feels that way for me as well. Always some crisis to tend to.

But you're from Earth in the 20th century? Forgive me... did you originate there or did you arrive by some other means? The humans in that time... are much less accepting of diversity.

So you suffer from the same problem then, huh?

[There's a pause before he chuckles and nods.] Born and bred in Germany. They are, still were before I left but isn't it usually peoples reaction to fear what they don't understand?

All the time.

Germany? Huh. Yeah, more often than not. Fear or confusion. Then both of those lead to frustration and anger and then people start being persecuted or killed. I've seen it happen enough and it's saddening every time.

I hope you haven't encountered much of that, but having lived through the 20th century, I have a feeling you probably have.

Unfortunately I have. I'm not exactly the most normal looking person in the world. Thankfully in the last few years it's just been more staring and comments rather than fire and pitchforks.

Yeah, I bet. I have to give it to them, they are making steps. I suppose it is the start of the more open thinking that I grew up with. And it could be as bad as it was in the Victorian era.

Granted that was kinda fun to live through. They took such strides to hide their impulses, but if you knew where to look they were all incredibly debauched. [Smile]

You lived through the Victorian era? I thought this place was more like your past than anything...

[He shakes his head slowly and smiles some.]

A start is always better than reverting backwards.

I've dabbled a fair bit in time travel. [Shrugs, feeling like at this point it isn't such a big deal to admit anymore.]

Eh sometimes. But anything's better than going in circles.

Ah, that makes lots more sense.

Haven't had the misfortune of having that happen, not on the subjection of openness anyway.
