[Hawke has learnt how to use the video function properly! Finally. She's giving the camera and easy smile, but those that know her might notice a slight tightness around the edges of her expression]

You know, I'm starting to get the feeling we're not entirely welcome in this place. It's depressing how life trends continue even when you get dragged ( Read more... )

Why don't you just stand on the roof of the nearest law building and shout 'Hello in there! I plan on doing something illegal!' while you're at it, Carver?

Well, all right. So long as you're willing to be the one who gets sliced open and bleed outs.

Far be it for me to stop my brother fulfilling his dreams.

Fenris isn't invincible, and I'm not turning Anders out on his ass. I'm terribly sorry if that upsets you, but I'm not changing my mind.

The lightsabers are the weapons of the Jedi. You need to join to get your own.

Well. There goes that idea. ['That idea' being obtaining them legally :'D]

You wouldn't happen to have a name, would you? Or do I get to make one up?

Lightsabers are a symbol of the Jedi. There is no weight to it, but it is a difficult weapon to master for some. It does cut through anything, after all.

So I've heard. I like a challenge, though. Is it possible for people who aren't space mages to learn how to use the things, or just...frowned upon?

Frowned upon. We- The Jedi take their weapons seriously. It is a mark of passage to be able to begin building your own and carry it around.

[She gives a brilliant smile] Oh, it's been at least a week since anyone new was frowning at me personally! I'm behind on my quota.

I am thinking, perhaps, with... signing up with this military faction here.

I am surprised and taken aback!

You'd probably slide right on in with anything military, but...things here are a lot more politicised than back in Kirkwall, and I can't believe I just said that. But I don't know that the military is going to be the same neutral force it was at home.

Then perhaps things will be run better than back at Kirkwall. I would rather have a less neutral force if it meant that we were able to... help. In some form. I do not wish to sit passively by while things turn for the worst in another place that I am stuck in.

[a long pause, and Aveline's voice grows softer, sadder] It will pass the time, at the very least.

[a beat passes before Hawke speaks, and her voice is slightly warmer, less ridiculous when she does so] Look, we both know I'm possibly the worst person in the world to judge what the sensible course of action. If there's anyone I trust to know what the blazes they're doing, it's you, so if you think military is for you, I say go ahead.

And I'm sure you're absolutely ecstatic to have my permission.

You mean the lightsabers? Sadly I'm not savvy on that geek stuff but maybe you could ask one of those...Jedi people about it.

Aside from that, I can't really help you either. Seeing as I haven't been here long myself.
