FUCK SUBWAY JUMPERSSSSSSSS :| This is a cute story though, as bizarre a descriptor as that may be for a guy jumping in front of a train.
Also, unf, post-apocalyptic fiction is my favorite genre. If you haven't already, try reading some stuff from Permuted Press for your research. They're a small publishing company that deals entirely in post-apocalyptic novels and short story collections. Many are zombie-related, but not all.
Ohoooo thanks for the rec! Idk about zombie-related lit since I'm aiming more for the post-nuclear-war dusty-fallout-landscape apocalypse but it might be helpful!
Jumping in front of an oncoming subway train has a 67% survival rate, much higher than the 10% survival rate for rail-related suicides. This is most likely because trains traveling on open tracks travel relatively quickly, whereas trains arriving at a subway station are decelerating so that they can stop and board passengers.
or so says wiki.
also, some rails have drainage ditches and stuff that if you fall in the train won't completely mush you to bits wejnkawkealwef
