I suggest going to a bookstore, and looking at their languages section. Books like Kanji and Kana are good, as well as the ones with CDs (because they help you with inflection and such).

ONLY GO FOR BOOKS THAT HAVE THE CHARACTERS, NOT JUST ROMAJI. It's easier to get a hold of the rest of the language if you completely understand the kanji and kana for where your learning status is. You could also visit a college books store, and get their first year textbook (which will be fairly expensive, let me tell you), that also contains grammar point and kanji, as well as awesome vocabulary and excersises.

I totally agree. I actually get a little annoyed with romaji, because I can't learn kanji or reading skills if it's in English. My reading speed really needs some help. I already know the kana, but when I can afford it, I hope to get some Kanji books and flashcards.

I'm already taking Japanese in college, so I've finished the first book (being for J1 and J2) and part of the second (Being for J3 and J4). The bookstore I go to doesn't have much I can use... It's very slim pickings for Japanese.

Thanks for the suggestions, though! <3

If you want to learn conversational stuff, the website that my alma mater's Japanese department put up is pretty good:

As for kanji, I'd suggest getting a workbook and working through a few at a time until you have the stroke order and the readings down pat.

For Kanji, Flash cards worked wonders for me. just make sure you don't make the same mistake i did and thats get used to the english meaning of the kanji and forgett how to say it in japanese. because once you know a lot of kanji its really easy to just look at a frace and know what it means whithout knowning how to say it in japanese

Hahaha, that does tend to happen to me with the Kanji that I don't use frequently. XD

Maybe look into something for the aim of taking the JLPT. Look for a level 4 and work your way up.
