I shall begin with the easiest part of commenting on the year of 2009. The actual story of it will have to come later:

The best books read 2009:
- Bin Ladin i våra hjärtan (Bin Ladin in our hearts) by Mattias Gardell.
The first piece of course literature that got me interested in politics.

- The Terror Dream by Susan Faludi.

Haruki Murakami.
A most brilliant author verging between reality and fantasy.

Another author I like who blends reality and fantasy is Banana Yoshimoto. Her stories are mostly slice-of-life, but they all have one supernatural element thrown in. If you ever see Kitchen especially, I highly recommend it!
