I just freehanded it - I chained 50 stitches using some super-chunky yarn with a 9.0 mm hook and double crocheted until I had a square. It took exactly three 98-meter skeins - as in, I had to cannibalize the tails from joining a new skein to finish the last couple stitches, heh. Mine's about 27" per side. I used a 13x13 grid instead of the standard 19x19 so the "stones" could be a decent size. (I've discovered that I knit and crochet really loosely, so you may have to use a larger hook to get the same measurements.) The lines are backstitched with cheap acrylic, and for the stones I used yarn with a bit of a sheen to it so they would pop more.
But are you going to put velcro on the circles so you can use it as a Go board and a blanket at the same time? Because that's what would make it the BEST.
Also, will there be an attached pocket to store the pieces in? (Clearly I have no qualms about jumping into the dork pool)
Um. This is so clearly the BEST THING EVER, I just don't even know how to respond to it with words other than that. Omg now I want to make one of these. :D
