Fridays are green

When you're young you might decide this doll is happy, that teddy is grumpy. The Jack of Spades is haughty, the Queen of Diamonds is shy. Thursdays are orangey-brown, Fridays are green. As you grow up you put these thoughts behind you and pretend to be a real adult. You might still feel, deep down, that the Queen of Spades is a stroppy cow, but you ( Read more... )

The Sheffield SF group discussed this once, a long time ago, and apart from one guy who had known about it before, and definitely had it in a Big Way, everyone said, oh how silly.

Then we started saying - if I visualise my life, what does it look like? And we had helix shapes, coloured ribbons intertwining, a transparent sausage gradually getting filled up with squidged coloured balls and other shapes. Some went up and down, some stretched off to infinity in a straight line.

So I'm quite happy that your Fridays are green.

Try eating food with your eyes closed, and thinking about what colour it really is ...

I saw a program about this a month or so ago. It implied that synathesia was most likely very important in the early development of language as it meant that things kicked off in the brain when presented with concepts - and that these could be associated with sounds.

OK so maybe I am not explaining it very well but I was convinced.

Hello! Popped over from scarlatti's journal. I am so envious of you. I don't think I am synaesthetic at all, although in an odd way I agree with you that Fridays are green.
But regardless of any of that, the Queen of Spades *is* a stroppy cow.
:)

Hello! I'm thoroughly enjoying concentrating on the synaesthesia, although I only have it very mildly as far as I can make out - I'm somewhat envious of the people who have it strongly. It's interesting to consider what colour or texture things are. Strangely, all the days of the week have a colour apart from Sunday.

Glad you agree with me about the Queen of Spades. Mardy bitch (her, not you!).

Hmmm, strangely, I think Wednesdays are green as well. Or slightly possibly orange. Thursdays are definitely dark blue. But I'm not so sure about the others.

I noticed you friended me, so I'm friending you back, if that's ok :)

'ello Miss,
I don't have it, but I used to work with someone who did. Aparently she was very good at planning because she could see 'time' stretching off into the distance in her mind (or something) not sure if 'time planning' is a characteristic of the condition.

I'm somewhat envious of the people who have it strongly.
Hmmm... not sure but I think if you have it strongly then you can't start to do things like see jagged lines when you hear certain sounds - I think this is part of the same condition and it sounds a little distracting to me. So stick with what you've got :-)
