Hi! Interrogate me, h0rs!

Also, I was debating which movie to go see today: The Libertine, Mrs. Henderson Presents, or She's the Man.

Clearly She's the Man was the most likely to be horrible. Given that, I'm sure that quintos can guess which one I saw. (Well, so can grrliz, but only because I told her, which is totally cheating on her part ( Read more... )

Maybe that's the difference between you and my--Amanda Bynes' irritates the shit out of me. There were cute moments, and I didn't really mind some of the idiotic plot holes and caricature-like portrayal of characters. (After all, it's supposed to be a light-hearted comedy, not a major cinematic experience.) The part that annoyed me more was that the producers/director seemed to think we were idiots. Everything was hammed up to such an extent that the characters should have had no secrets left, which makes me think that either the characters are idiots or that the directors think we are an that we won't get it otherwise. Additionally, Viola's imitation of Sebastian torqued me off. In the original play, Viola succeeds in attracting Olivia largely because she displays a certain poetic insight that Olivia found unusual in a man, not because she was a caricature of a trying-too-hard guy with misogynistic overtones.

I have to say, though, that the amount of time "Duke" spent shirtless made up for a lot. The coach was cool, too.

Clearly you weren't watching Mrs Henderson Presents because then this post would have been more full of praise.

And maybe you would have made a reference to seeing Tonks naked.

Teen movies so often fail. It's almost sad.

Teen movies fail because directors continually underestimate our intelligence.

So you recommend Mrs Henderson Presents, then? :D

I really enjoyed it. The dialogue had a lovely snap and didn't underestimate your intelligence all that much, if at all.

Mrs Henderson herself was such an odd yet admirable character.

whoa whoa Caisha... they don't underestimate the MAJORITY of teens... which is what they're aimed at. They often overestimate the majority...

its that minority that so often has complaints...

Vinnie Jones is fucking awesome!
(To quote Viola-as-Sebastian, I would totally hit that.)

Fun is all I was hoping for, but it fell short for me. I laughed a lot, but mostly in the embarrassed-for-them-all way.

I have to disagree. He plays D&D. He's stereotyped sure, but he plays D&D.

I have a slight itching to see She's the Man, just because I've found Amanda Bynes amusing since her days on the original All That.

YOU NEED TO SEE V FOR VENDETTA.

It's worth seeing just for Duke's shoulders. Just don't expect much.

I DO!

Did I ever thank you for watching that pink movie while I was at work? If not, I should have.
