Since it seems to be important to you to protect it, then do so. Were you looking for another justification?

You should protect it. It's property. Why let it just drift away into the public domain? If you aren't using it, you can assign it to somebody else.

I would love to assign (ie: License it) it to someone else, but that someone needs to be a proper Corporate entity so that any indemnification language in the license agreement would be valid under all circumstances.

There does not exist a proper corporate entity in So.Cal regarding furry fandom. They prefer to run conventions with no corporate shield whatsoever! (...and from what I've heard, without even having event insurance!)

I am not licensing my name to irresponsible children anyone who doesn't understand this simple rule of life.
