Well, girls, I've just been to see Jimmy, to finalise all the details for the ramble! First off, Irene and Belinda, you two are to run down to Cook first thing after breakfast, to collect the baskets. The kitchen staff have certainly come good for us - there's a crate of ginger beer split up between us all ( Read more... )

Rather funny how it's always me that you're forever picking on, isn't it Darrell? I wish you'd stop acting like you're in charge of everyone and everything, because i'll do whatever I like!

Gwen, you mutt, it wasn't me that decided this! It was Miss Grayling and your father, and if you've any complaints, don't bother wasting my time with them.

I don't know what you're worrying about, anyway! This walk will be jolly good for all of us!

I'm so sick of everyone else deciding what's good for me! Like I'm not capable of making that decision myself?!

I don't like walks. They hurt my feet. I honestly don't see how any of you can like them!

Yes'm. No spite. Just good clean air and fun - but if, say, Gwen happens to fall over and I happen to laugh, you'd not hold it against me, would you?

Shall we have time for a chat tomorrow sometime, Darrell? There are a few things I'd like to get your opinon on, if so.

Right you are, Saint Darrell! :) Sounds you've gone to a lot of trouble to make sure we have a cracking time - and I can't wait to get a proper lungful of good Cornish air!

Should you find yourself tiring of the hat-thwapping duties at any stage of the proceedings though, do give a shout in my direction. It does us good to share the burden of dear Gwendoline (all written without even a trace of spite, rest assured).
