When we lived in Ohio, there was a wall in our family room that had a small-ish hole in it. When we moved to Virginia, one of our cats got really scared by the movers and went into the hole. And of course, our luck, the cat wouldn't come out. So we left her in the wall and went to Virginia. Luckily the house hadn't sold yet and we had a friend go over every day and put out food and check for her. When she came out he took her home and then we picked her up when we went back to visit a month later. But it took her almost a week to get rescued.
Instead of risking getting shredded, why don't you just get some Advantage? All you have to do is dab it on the backs of their necks -- no bathing required. It works wonders on my cats. My grey kitty is also the type who will tear her own skin scratching fleas, and when she gets the Advantage she stops scratching completely.
Chrissy is actually alergic to one of the two vet strength put it on the neck stuff. I forget which one, but it made her skin bubble and blister, so I really don't want to risk the second one. I don't know which Advantage is.
The Hartz liquid is mild enough so it doesn't burn her. Then, I put a flea collar on her that is for kittens, that also is milder.
I should do it for Goten, but I'm terrified somehow Chrissy will get some of it on her fur and it will blister.
I felt like a total asshole when she got those blisters. Nasty work.

I'm biting my lip and my shoulders might be shaking a little bit, but it's not laughter, honest!
