mellowtron is clearly a genius with the Google search, because she has unearthed the recipe for garlic paste that I was asking about yesterday.

It's a traditional Lebanese recipe called "Toum." It is indeed made primarily of raw garlic and olive oil (lemon juice being an optional additive) and the recipe is here.
