I don't think age has too much to do with friendships...except that as you get older you appreciate them more, and only really focus on the ones that really mean anything and as such I guess they are a bit more work.
But I've always found it hard to make new friends as I really do require an odd, strong connection...so if, like you said, you've noticed similarities between other people in quirky ways I say go for it.
Not that you were asking for encouragement, but there you go anyways :)

I'm just terrible at making new friends, I think. Not making them... but keeping them, I guess? I'm not a good "friend maintainer". It's one of the things I really despise about myself. :(
