Oliver squeezed Fred's hand and led him into the kitchen behind his mother. "Sit down," he told him, and offered a smile as he went to make the tea at the stove.
Elizabeth put the flowers into a vase and filled it with water before sitting down across from it.
"What brings you by today, Oliver? You said there was something you needed to tell me. I hardly need to approve of your private life, you know?"
"I know," he said, bringing cups to the table. "But I thought you'd like to know I'm getting married. We're getting married. I wanted you to meet Fred."
She watched her son for a moment, emotionless as he poured the tea for them. "I see," she said quietly. "You know your father won't approve."
Oliver shrugged. "I don't care. It's not for him to approve."
She nodded again and lifted her cup to her lips, her eyes going to the clock for a moment. "So... Fred. What is it that you do for a living?"

"You're well enough off yourself," she pointed out, sipping her tea and looking at Oliver. "You seem happy."
"I am," he said, smiling and squeezing Fred's knee. "I think the wedding is going to be around the new year."
Elizabeth nodded. "Where are you planning on living?"

He sighed again and pulled Fred to his chest. "She let me go a long time ago. It was more important to save herself than me." He shrugged. "Her choice. I know you're not going anywhere. I'm not either, you know?" He kissed his jaw. "It's all right, love. Really. Today? It was no different than every other day with my parents."

He took his hand and led him up a bit further, around the bend and into a clearing by the stream. "There it is," he said, looking out over the water. "I do like the way your arse looks in those trousers. I'd hate to ruin them by getting them wet, you're right."

Fred handed the picture to Oliver and took out his wand. A leaf on the ground got transfigured into a three-mast sailing ship. He summoned it to himself and promptly traded it for the picture. "Show me."

He arched up against him, grinning lazily and tilting his head back so Fred could kiss his neck. "Going to spoil me, gorgeous. Let's try for slow... I doubt we can keep it that way though."
