Hee hee, very Melchett. (Although I highly doubt he's ever been straight. Well, maybe in Blackadder II, minus the whole sheep thing ... )

But yeah. Very nice. More squeeing and applause.

Very nice! Thank you for noting the definite age difference between George and Melchy -- I always thought it rather odd when other slashers ignored the backstory they had, and the rabbit pie. *sniffle*

While Stephen and Hugh are only two years apart in age, the age difference between George and Melchett is more noticeable because of the mustache that Stephen sports.

From my personal calculations, George is somewhere in his twenties when he leapfrogged down to the registration office with his buddies. Melchett's age is only slightly more concrete because he mentions the game of '96 when his team beat the Harrow team 15-4, which possibly put him in his twenties in 1896, which would make him 38 at the very youngest in 1914.

But yes, I have a feeling that such a big age difference kind of intimidates other slashers (especially the ones that like pairings between a child and an adult) to the point where, if they ignore the backstory that emphasizes the age difference long enough, then they can imagine them as being closer in age.

*shuts up*

Eeep. How complex this is. What a grumpy old tosser. Part of me wants to smack him. And part of me feels sad for the fellow.

How IC for Melchett to blame George for his sexuality, and to hate him for it. He's such a passionate character with no aptitude for self-examination. You've got him just right. Can't help but feel for him. Still want to hit him though because he reminded me about the rabbit pie he made of poor George's pet bunny. Grrrr. Thwack!

..stupid bastard. i love the way you write them - they both sound so... right. like perhaps this was going on in the series, and you never knew.
