Eh, I'm not sure how much I fault Meckler for either forgetting or just brain-farting the local NY law. He had his California permit with him. Probably just an oversight.

At the time, it looked like a good occasion for Schadenfreude, as his post-arrest behavior made a poor showing for being a martyr on behalf of the Second Amendment, something he could easily have pulled off. Since then, it turned out that this is not an infrequent occurrence, as two otherwise law-abiding gun owners ran afoul of New York's strict gun laws. I'll bet those will be the subject of the next NRA campaign.
