i wonder how many of those are actually being watched and how many are default recommendations by netflix. Slacker here in Austin and Singles up in Seattle are pretty old/cliche and likely to be recommended more by algorithms than by people.

I mean, i know Slacker is popular down here, but it's not nearly as popular as Linklater's later films. Dazed and Confused ran in the local arthouse for more than a year straight. He's also since been eclipsed by Robert Rodriguez as the most popular local filmmaker. Also Office Space is about a million times more popular for local flavor than Slacker ever was.

plus slacker is very depressing to Austinites at this point, since it's now a travelogue of an Austin that's long gone. open fields in the middle of town, sparse population, no traffic. Almost every landmark in the film has been wiped out by "progress".
