This may sound like a dumb question, but I keep on hearing my friends say that they make posts on daily koz and it confuses me. Is it like lj somehow? I thought daily koz had their professional people, can anybody post? How does it work?

Daily Kos has professional people, the front pagers who write stories that automatically appear, title and most of the text, along the left-hand side of the front page of the site. However, anyone can register there and write diaries, only the title and author of which appear on the right side of the front page. As new diaries are published, they scroll down the front page and eventually fall off. At this time two years ago, diaries would scroll off within half an hour during the day and within two hours in the middle of the night. It's not nearly that frantic now

Toy guns should be brightly colored so they cannot be mistaken for real weapons, and kids should be taught to never point darts, arrows, or guns at anyone.
