I kind of wonder, since people seem so bad at reading beyond the headlines anyway half the time, if they have still managed to confuse enough people to have some effect. People who belong to the "real" tea party are already often enough prone to conspiracy theorizing, and if all they read is that the court has ruled against the Tea Party, they may think "Activists judges! Government interfering with the rights of the people!" Etc.

I heard a woman yesterday explaining to her kids about how they 'want to build a Muslim mosque on Twin Towers site' and people are upset because 'some Muslims are bad people', but I was at work so I couldn't headdesk.
