You've all probably been reading about this guy a lot, especially if you're following the story about the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell.

Nothing complicated about it. Admirals are all hideously political creatures, always have been, and generally want to do whatever the guy in the White House wants so they can plant some obs. The same is true of Air Force generals, less so the Army & Marine varieties. The Coast Guard's flag officer was last seen trying to figure out if he was still working for Transportation, Treasury, or this newfangled Homeland Security craziness.
