On this month's challenge...

As a way to say hi (and because it sparked my interest), I think I'll have a shot at the challenge and do a non-dialogue piece. But er - what constitues as non-dialogue? It obviously means no direct speech, but what about indirect?

Basically, if you're doing a non-dialogue piece, you cannot use any speechmarks in any way.

Though I'm not sure what you mean by indirect speech so I can't say for sure whether it's allowed or not. Please explain and I'll get back to you. ^_^

Urk...indirect speech is always an annoying one to explain. It's...where a character says something, but they don't say it using speech-marks? Um...it's confusing to explain. I looked it up on askoxford just now, and it gave me this:
reported speech

• noun a speaker’s words reported in a subordinate clause, with the required changes of person and tense (e.g. he said that he would go, based on I will go). Contrasted with DIRECT SPEECH.

That's slightly clearer than my babble. <3

Oh, well yeah. That's perfectly fine. It's not dialogue if it's only a sentence or so. As long as the character are not having an actual conversation it falls into the criteria.

I hope you have fun writing it!
