Also I hated the fact that when I was in school, they taught us Javascript first because "it's kewl and we can do kewl things with it quickly" before they taught actual Java. By the time we were all done muddling through Javascript, nobody knew what the fuck they were doing with Java. I likened it to learning a spoken language by memorizing all the slang and colloquialisms first, then trying to go back and learn the formal structure of the language. It don't work like that.
