Also I hated the fact that when I was in school, they taught us Javascript first because "it's kewl and we can do kewl things with it quickly" before they taught actual Java. By the time we were all done muddling through Javascript, nobody knew what the fuck they were doing with Java. I likened it to learning a spoken language by memorizing all the slang and colloquialisms first, then trying to go back and learn the formal structure of the language. It don't work like that.
Shh... don't tell anyone that! Our livelihood depends on non code people thinking we're brilliant magicians who can do anything! Impenetrable jargon is a vital part of that. You'll spoil the illusion dammit!
