The Commodore 64 turned 25 this week!

I was 10 when my brother Ryan gave me his (this would be winter '91-'92). His C64 had a Warp Speed cartridge and a 1200 baud modem! It was hooked up to my black-and-white GoldStar 13" TV (the same one I used to play his Atari 2600).

At 10, I was using the C64 to (among other things):

nostalgia, hardware, computers

I didn't actually have a C64. My nextdoor neighbor did. I would let her play my Intellivision and she would let me play her C64.

Bitch, please. The C64 was used for one sole purpose...

Oregon Trail.

I was a huge fan of the GI Joe and Aliens games.
I still remember drooling over C64 games on the shelf at Babbage's in the Annapolis Mall

My dad brought home the C64 when I was 6 years old. That thing was awesome. (actually he still has a working C64 and several Amigas)

We'd (he, my brother and I) played the shit out of California Games. We had an "Adventure Construction" set too. I made a Bart Simpson RPG out of that. Totally crazy. Played Ultima IV and V on it.

Good times...

Killer app cddiede December 13 2007, 14:02:15 UTC
The first application I get for any new PDA or smartphone is always a version of the Frodo C64 emulator. It's truly a killer app, especially on qwerty enabled devices.

I'm even on the beta test team for Frodo for Symbian S60 3rd edition. So frickkin' sweet....

Also, the Atari 2600 controller, the C64 joystick, and the Sega Genesis controllers were all nicely interchangeable back in the day. What happened to that level of compatibility? Yes, I'm looking at you, Rock Band/Guitar Hero controllers....
