Unbounded Dickery

So apparently, Blizzard is dropping LAN multiplayer from Starcraft II.

… what??! You actually need to be connected to the Battle.Net Internet service to pwn your loser friends even if all of you are in someone's basement together??!

That's unbounded dickery!

starcraft ii, video games

Yeah, I heard that earlier this week. While I think it is a dumb move on Blizzard's part, I also expect the amount of time for someone to write a patch or battle.net spoofer to support LAN will be rather short.

I think that's'them being realistic and realizing how rarely you're in the same room as other people

I probably played the original Starcraft on LANs twice as much as I did on Battle.net. But perhaps things are different now.

Not to mention the splitting of the game into 3 different ones! Although I'll reserve judgement on that until they roll out the cost of each.

Well, where in today's America do people pop up a LAN that doesn't also have a high speed connection that'll support a bunch of people? LAN parties came about because people wanted to play in the same room but also because people had dial up, right?

This puts a big dent in what was the mass piracy that was Starcraft.
