I read Jemma7729 and I've heard Phoebe reading excerpts from J2 at cons. I'm looking forward to the release. I like her gutsy but good-hearted heroines; they are deep and real, unlike other "strong female characters" I've read which seem to be nothing more than the same old stereotype with an attitude and a gun. I don't like dark dystopian fiction as a rule, but I make an exception for Phoebe's work because it is so well done, and because her deep-seated idealism shows through in spite of the darkness.

Thanks, Justine...great interviewer. Interviewee is only as good as the questions asked. And thanks for the kind words about those fictional girls I hang out with. I'm generally pretty easy-going and cheerful, but the world is a perilous place for so many people, even here in my own back yard. I spent some years being a public rabble-rouser for various causes -- especially the environment -- and got my share of disappointments and bruises. Won some bouts, too. It's difficult for people, young people particularly, to realize that just a few decades ago the US was still killing humpback whales instead of swimming with them and recording their songs. Stamina is the name of the game. Thanks again.
