Wow, I got so caught up in this story I just had to read it all in one go and now I'm late. But I really loved how you sketched in some of Barney's backstory and also gave every character a voice. I was frustrated that Lily didn't fess up to Ted for trying to break him and Barney up, but you're right, Ted had no right to expect monogamy.

Right at the start of the story I thought it would be a lot darker - I misinterpreted the cracking noise as a gunshot rather than glass breaking. But I'm glad Barney didn't do anything stupid, and he got to a place where Ted could get his head out of his ass. :-)

I loved the image of Barney tying himself to Ted's bed. What did he have written on his chest? I need to know!

One last thing - I'd really appreciate it if you could crosspost this story to the Ted and Barney shippers comm barneyted. Thanks!

I'm very glad to know that this story captivated you. I wasn't very secure in my grasp of fandom while I was writing, especially as this fic got longer and longer.

As for Lily not fessing up to Ted- part of that was unintentional. After using the break up as the catalyst for action, I didn't really touch it again, but I also didn't think she would admit that she broke them up. First because her other similar actions bothered Ted a lot, and then second because she was horrified at the damage she had done.

I did originally intend for this story to be darker before I really started writing it with more of a decline in Barney and Ted's situations with no resolution between them, but the story wanted this to happen instead and I let it do so.

I was sort of thinking just a generic "Punish Me" but it felt tacky to write so I tried to avoid it.

Hehe, that's often the case with Ted and Barney. You try and make things uber-angsty but really you just want to see them snuggle. And have hot boysex. :-D

Thank you. As the story got longer, I started to feel like I had less control over it, but I'm glad to know it caught your attention.

This is at least a pretty good representation of how I tend to interpret Barney's character, and actually a little harder on Ted then I usually think of him.

I will be writing more fics in this fandom at least, and there will probably be more Barney/Ted fics somewhere in there. I don't think there will be another chapter/epilogue to this story in particular because I do feel this is the resolution for them and that whether or not they stay together is up to the reader's interpretation (though personally I think they end up just friends in this particular universe). And last, if it means anything, I did write three more drabbles for this fandom today, thought I don't know when those might be posted.
