new header and Sam/River moodtheme is back to kick off my Big Bang fic which I will post in a few hours.

Going old school with the graphics by using Paint and Word. A pain in the ass and takes forever to do anything, but the results are pretty enough.

it's some sort of shiny new paint program installed in new PC's I guess? And word helped with the coloring.

The header is gorgeous!!! I can't believe you did it with Paint and Word, wow! :D And for the programs - if you'd like something better have you tried Photoshop portable? I've discovered it just recently and it's AMAZING. It's almost exactly the same as the normal version of Photoshop but it doesn't have many files that are unnecessary and just stay in the program's forlders, so it takes a lot less place, plus you don't install it - just click on it and it opens on your computer :). For me it works much quicker than the usual Photoshop and it looks like it's legal, because I've read that it's widely known that people just share this version in the internet :D.
