Vodka and Pasta? Why Not?

I was just cruising around the net, and came across a recipe for Vodka Cream Pasta. I must admit, I'd never thought of vodka cream and pasta going together in a dish, and would have given it a try out of curiosity, except for two things - I have plenty of pasta, but no vodka and not being a vodka drinker, or much of a drinker at all really, and I ( Read more... )

Mmm...I've had vodka cream sauce before- it is actually quite good- but I let the professionals make it. I've never tried it at home. Hmm...Well, if I ever get a date again, maybe I'll make this! (and I mean a real date, not the imaginary dates in my head that I have with Lucius and the boys. ;^))

If you really want to try it, you could get one of those little airplane bottles of vodka (do they sell those in Australia in liquor stores?). This way you don't need to buy a whole bottle of something you won't drink, and you could probably even just adjust it to the taste. And it may actually slightly less than the recipe call for. Generally, the alcohol just burns off when you cook with it, so it is just the taste that is left behind.

Being about as good in the kitchen as Neville is at transfiguration, (maybe that's why I don't have dates), my idea of cooking and alcohol is a bowl of pasta, covered in some jar of sauce, with the bottle of vodka on the placemat next to me, hmm.
But this recipe looks simple enough even for me! Let's try it then. Will report back.

Well, the glass...err...bottle of vodka next to the plate of pasta and sauce is a good step towards the recipe, at least you don't just pour the vodka over the plate of pasta and sauce!

oh the goodness! vodka sauce is truly one of my favorites. you should give it a try. the cooking burns of most if not all of the vodka and leaves behind a wonderful creamy sauce.

yummy!
