Firstly, a great big THANK YOU to everyone who voted for my entry on lj_scribe - I came in second! And congratulations to the other finalists! If you didn't get a chance to read it and would like to without navigating further, I've included it at the end of this post. It's only a hundred words, so quite a quick read.

Secondly, carrying on my 70s musical ( Read more... )

The way you are posting new music (well new for me) I'll take more than a few days to go through it. LOL! xD

Well, it's not going anywhere, so you can cruise through it when you have the time if it takes your fancy. You may want to show these John Martyn clips, especially 'I'd Rather Be the Devil' to any friends who play guitar - they'll be impressed with him.

Congrats on the 2nd place.
Why have I never heard John Martyn before. Brilliant sound. Will be investigating his music further, thank you, me dear.

You're quite welcome - I'm glad you like him. I'd suggest you look up his 60s &70s work first, - Bless the Weather and Solid Air are the two I'd suggest you listen to first, then you can go backwards and forwards from there.

He really was an exceptional talent.

Yay!! Congratulations!!

Haven't been able to listen to the tunes yet, but I will as soon as mac-baby is plugged into my own internet. I was indoctrinated with JTull by my local classic rock station growing up- even though my musical awakening was 80s Brit pop-hence the deep & abiding love for Duran Duran- I can happily hum along to a wide range of older stuff. (Although one of my college floormates tortured me (us?) with Rush on a daily basis, so the words for Tom Sawyer are firmly embedded in my brain.) ;^>

I'll most probably move on to the 80s eventually - there's still a lot I'd like to post from the 70s yet - but many bands who made it big in the 80's had 70s roots - they just didn't hit the mainstream until then, so you'll most probably see a few familiar names in future posts, and hopefully some that are new to you. There was so much good music in both decades.

I thought you had the best write (but, I will take any attention my writing can get LOL). I do hope with the change in lj_scribe that you will still regularly participate, as you are one of the very few "must read" scribes.
