I can relate to this completely. Both my son and I both get sleep paralysis. It's not so bad seeing things, but I really hate waking up and not breathing or with my heart rate really low, and I think, crap, this is it, if I don't start breathing I might die...
Yes, the not breathing and low heart rate is horrible, isn't it? I also hate the almighty kick in the chest feeling I get just before my heart rate rises, and then the racing...
I don't get worried by the visuals or auditory hallucinations, either. The only one that ever really scared me was that one at my mum's place because I truly thought it was real.
I've also found the episodes are rarer now I'm on beta blockers (for an unrelated condition). I don't know if it is coincidence or if they had this fortunate side effect.
