My mother burned the sauce for the lasagne earlier and it's still all I can smell. It's making me feel ill.

How attentive are her parents? By the time the kid's a teen, some parents let the kid have their room completely to themselves and don't enter without permission, so if Charlotte keeps her door closed, she might be okay.

But congratulations on being so far ahead! I'm still working on getting today's count out.

My family was usually pretty cool about staying out of my bedroom (except for my brother, of course) so I was considering that her parents would keep out if she kept her door closed but then my brain pops up with questions like "What if her mother goes looking for dirty laundry and has to go in her room? What if her mother decides to change the bed sheets while Charlotte's out? What if..?"

...I really need to shut that voice up and remember that since I'm writing the story, her parents don't have to go in if I don't want them to... ^^;

Maybe her mom's trying to teach her responsibility by making her do her own laundry and make her own bed? Or Charlotte makes a point of doing her own laundry just to keep Mom from going to look for it?

Or just play the "Because I'm the author and I say so" card. ;) It really does work pretty well. :P

I might not need to use the 'Because I'm the author and I say so" card after all. Probably a good thing My characters, no matter what the story, rarely seem to listen to me. XD
