Just Plain Off Wednesday

Things just don't seem to be going right this week. Nothing catastrophic has happened. Nothing (thusfar) has fallen out of the sky. Nothing is irreparably broken. It just. Feels. Off ( Read more... )

Awww... I hope things get back in whack for you soon!

One question: Why on earth would you want to bathe a kitty-cat????

I really don't mean that question in a snarky way, I'm honest-to-God curious since it's something that never crossed my mind before!

One of our older cats has a chronic dandruff problem. We figure if we had trained her to at least tolerate bathing, we might be able to help her with it, but as it stands, it is what it is.

Also, even thought the kids are indoor-only, they have been infested with fleas at least twice in their lives. The more I learn about that Advantage/Revolution/behind-the-neck stuff the more leery I am of it, and I think that good old fashioned bathing would be just as effective.

Plus, we read something in "Cats for Dummies" (our bible) about it.

But yeah, if it's too much of a struggle, we will probably let this issue go (in lieu of training Clutch to tolerate having her claws trimmed).

Ahhh... I understand now. That makes sense. However, talk to your vet about the dandruff. Lola has a dandruff problem, and our vet gave us some doggy-safe omega-3 oils in a pump bottle and we just put one-half pump of the oil on her food daily and the dandruff/dry skin issue has disappeared. It might be something to look into for your kitty. If it's good for humans and good for dogs, I can't imagine it's not good for cats. It does give Lola fish breath in the evenings, but that doesn't last long once she goes outside and eats her own poop. :P

Weird! I made some white bean-chicken soup last night and it had the same effect as your chicken noodle bomb. I blamed allergies. It's been a cool, wet spring and there was something in the paper about the pollen count nearing 2,000 when 200 is usually considered high.

I have given Puddin' Tomas a bath or two an he's a cooperative little geek, but he's also over 10 years old, so I can not fathom giving a frisky little kitty a bath.

The Mister just dropped her in the tub and let her paddle around. She was too shocked to find a way out of it.

Springtime pollen usually doesn't bother me (I'm all about the autumnal allergies) but... hm, maybe there is something to your point. I should look up the pollen counts for the last few days. Other folks in the office who are prone to reaction have been sneezing all over the place.

I used to bathe our cats, because it really helps if you're allergic to cats by seriously cutting down on the dander, but I eventually gave up on it, because it wasn't fun for anyone involved, we ended up with a 4+ cat population which just didn't make it feasible anymore, and we had a nasty drafty bathroom at the time. I'm not sure I believe they get used to it. And once they're big enough to jump out of the tub, taking half the water with them, watch out!
