Snake scarf, eh? I think I saw a pattern for one on the Morehouse Farms site...is this the same one? I myself am thinking of doing either a shibori scarf: http://castadrift.blogspot.com/2006/05/shibori-scarf-tutorial.html, or the swiss cheese scarf: http://guavaseeds.blogspot.com/2007/02/swiss-cheese-scarf.html. My best good friend made the mistake of confiding in my sister last year that all she really wanted from me for Xmas was a scarf...now she has condemned herself to a tradition of scarves for every Xmas. HA!
I think I've seen that scarf... or maybe it was a dragon scarf... something like that.
I'm trying to wing this one. It's going to be more sculptural than what I think we both saw (which to me looked more like a skinned snake, rather than a still-"alive" one). (Tangentially, these critters kind of give me the creeps. Those should be buttons with "x"'s on them.)
I've been wanting to do some shibori! Seems right up my felting alley. I'm all about the organic, lumpen things. That swiss cheese pattern is pretty nifty too.
I specifically was forbidden to make gifts for my step-sister-in-law this year (in a mass email to everyone!) because I am apparently too crafty. No worries, she's getting a Thanksgiving gift instead. ;)
