I'm well aware it "could be worse", yes. Yet, thinking about it, the situation is already rather grim. Once things are fused together, they're fused -- there is no undoing them, or reversing the process, typically, at least not without highly destructive and unsatisfactory results. It's likely we'll be stuck here until whatever end befalls us happens.

...The more I think about it, the more permanent it seems. Admittedly... it is difficult to accept, even though the rational side of my mind already knows it may very well be hopeless.
