Squeaks of delight!
Today was supposed to be a day of doing work-related stuff in the morning, followed by some research for fic-writing and attempting to continue fic-writing... The day started well enough with breakfast while re-watching the training camp clip... and it evolved into screening through again to list out my fav sakumoto subtle-or-otherwise moments that had me all squished up with happy butterflies in my tummy.
Here goes the list with some picspams along the way (in chronological order cos I can't decide which is / are my favs!):
1. Jun’s (unintentional?) question whether Sho will be lonely when the latter initially chooses the mattress that is not under the sloping roof.
2. Sho’s (or is it Jun’s?) shifting of sleeping arrangements so that Sho is still beside Jun by the time they slot all five mattresses under the roof: subtle sakumoto at work here? Nah... it's just this silly alien's hyperactive imagination at work... ???
2a. When Sho asks if everyone is okay with the new sleeping arrangements, Jun seems to raise his hand in agreement before suddenly stopping himself and touching his forehead instead. I don't know, it just seems to me like he suddenly was aware that he may seem over-enthusiatic for Sho to stay where he was; it was likely that the rest were going to agree anyway. It just seemed like a "Oops! I hope the camera didn't catch that." moment. And not the last really. So
endah kindly clarified for me that Sho actually asked who preferred their original arrangement, and that it was he and (momentarily) Jun who raised their hands. Hayashi ne... why protest if you were the one who initiated the shift, Jun-kun? Worried you couldn't control yourself? That your inner-most desires would surface during your unconscious hours? LOL. You can see
endah's take in the comments below. Thank you so much for the clarification. I'd done this when subs weren't out yet, so pardon my half-baked interpretation. LOL.
3. Sho’s unrestrained laughter when Nino has to try on Jun’s birthday outfits: laughter to hide the jealousy, Sho-chan?
4. Jun unconsciously (?) spreading himself onto Sho’s mattress during the night. Missed this on watching the first time, but practically squealed at the TV when I watched it enlarged on my big-screen TV.
5. Despite Jun being the one who doesn’t deal well with waking in the morning, it’s Sho who can’t seem to wake when the alarm goes off… and Jun is the first to get to shutting off the alarm... before adopting the pose of a beached whale. LOL!
.
6. Jun asking Sho “What’s wrong?” continually as Sho shakily makes his way through the planked barrel: Awwwww...
7. Jun giving an encouraging pat to the shoulder that turns int a lovingly poke at Sho to take the literal flying leap off the platform
8. Sho shrieking “Hey! Don’t touch me!” and Jun LOLing his head off
9. Jun pushing Sho off the platform at “2” even as Sho flailingly scolds him to be a baka
10. Jun’s numerous DoS attempts to encourage, yet frighten Sho on high ropes challenges: flying fox, jostling the log / planks during log-walk, plank-walk, etc)
11. After their meal, it’s again Sakumoto side-by-side during their naptime. (Fic potential?)
12. Jun suggested Sho play the piano for the rest after Ohno’s initial tinkering on it
13. Jun’s quiet appreciation in the background as Sho plays Hatenai Sora, and his own silent encouragement when Sho hits some off-notes (kudos to Camera-san panning on Jun for a few seconds!)
13a. There's that initial quick slide of eyes away when Sho replies to Jun's request to play something. Jun can't be JUST checking whether staff will be unhappy for any delay right? When Sho reaches the climax, everyone is just swaying to the music, but Jun JUST STAYS STILL. To me, I just think when I'm that concentrated on something (someone :) ), I tend to just stay still and want to completely immerse myself with no distractions... so I'm kinda like "~kya!" for that. And "Oops!" moment #2 here when Sho seems to hit that difficult note that Jun ducks down to? It's like he realizes too late that the camera is focused on his almost-fond and nervous reaction. Again, cue the sharp contrast in how the other members are just pandering to the camera, and Jun JUST WANTS TO CONCENTRATE ON SHO PLAYING.
That poker-faced expression he had when the camera just panned on him? You'd think there'd be a more cheered, or idolizing expression, and yet the fact that he's keeping a blank expression (and yet was / is vocal about how good Sho is) just makes me wonder WHY a blank expression? I would have thought you'd be proud of your bandmate. That preference to maintain neutrality just screams for something more beneath the surface. It's only towards the end that he gets more enlivened. And when Sho is slightly disgruntled at himself when he finishes, Jun just cannot help but gush about how it was a really good effort. LOL. Can you tell it's one of my two fav moments of the training camp?
14. Sakumoto side-by-side during the Live Concert arrangements: why the distance Sho?! Jun?!
Edited to add that I'm so excited to hear uncommonly performed songs like Sketch likely to (will?) be added to the playlist, together with Subarashii Sekai, Season, Kaze, Carry On (at least these were the ones I caught)
15. Jun giving meat to Sho first despite Riida being closer, but the chipmunk choosing to receive the wagyu into his palm than to let Jun feed him directly: why so shy Sho?
16. The "u-mai~!" trend that's been noted recently among group members (or is it just the two of them?)
Training camp just encapsulates for me the essence of Sakumoto: the subtle care, the teasing moments, the pride of the DoS in his boyhood crush; that 68 minutes is all it takes to wrap what I would like their relationship to be: the playfulness, the seriousness, the respect. Ooh... I'm over-thinking this too much I know, but it's just so ~kya-worthy. LOL.
Any other squee-able moments that I missed? LOL. Oh God! Must clear some work first! Must get to fic-writing! Argh...
Screencaps are my own, but the raw comes from

Edited to link to a
one-shot I just wrote inspired by the sakumoto rabu here. Slightly spoilerish, but nothing too related to the DVD in general.
