How to apply your brand spankin' new layout!

Feb 14, 2004 14:51

The following is a generic list of instructions that can be more or less applied to every single one of my layouts on offer. Some layouts may have some extra tweaks, please be aware of this when applying your new look! On with the show..

A. Navigation Bar
B. Layout Instructions

FIRST (Navigation Bar Settings):

Do you have your navigation bar strip showing? (The bar across the top with handy links)
If YES, then jump on to 'Instructions'
If NO, or if you want to hide said bar, do this section first:

To hide/show the bar: Go here and under 'Customization' click on 'Navigation Bar Settings'
Scroll down until you see the box with the options for the navigation bar. Option 2 is the bit you want to play
with: tick/untick as you fancy

To adapt overrides accordingly: Under LASTN_HEAD, near the top there is a section that looks like
body {
overflow-x: hidden;
margin-top: 200;}If you have the navigation bar as noshow (unticked) increase tje 'margin-top' value by 50 (in this
case, it would change to 250).

And onwards we go!

Instructions:
1. You need to copy and paste the overrides into an editting programme (notepad, Word etc) and change all the url's to point to your images. (FYI: In the codes the url's are usually "http://www.yourhost.com/filename.jpg)
2. Also, all 'username's to your own username (Edit>Replace).
3. You can add information about yourself at the point labelled 'ABOUT YOU'. This'll show in your navigation bar.
4. Then, you need to copy and paste the whole lot underneath and change all the LASTN to FRIENDS (ie two copies of the same code, one with LASTN heads, one with FRIENDS head). If you do not do this, then it'll only show on your recent entries page. Please do not ask me later why it doesn't work on your friends page if you haven't done this step!

5. Finally, come back to livejournal and go here. Make sure you're logged in!
6. Select S1 style system
7. Click on the tab labelled ‘Look and Feel’ Select 'Generator' for the style of all views
8. Check the layout details for the custom colors information. Some may have specifics, some may use a theme. Select the mood theme you want.
9. Click on the ‘Custom Options’ tab. Copy and paste your editted overrides into the overrides box at the bottom.
10. Hit ‘save changes’.
Voila, you're done!

If you have problems, check the troubleshooting section in the FAQs. I beg of you people, please check there first if you’re having problems. Most likely you’ll find the solution there! If it doesn’t help, then ask. Alternatively, head over to
