Plagiarism in Bloodclaim: the Verdict is Guilty

spikes_kogagirl, now an ex-member of bloodclaim, has been added to the list of known plagiarists over at stop_plagiarism for plagiarising a Spander classic, Twilight Time, by Shadow. Chunks of Shadow's story turned up in spikes_kogagirl's two chapter Spander fic, 'Mending Souls' which was removed from her journal shortly after I contacted her.

This new Spander comm has a very special plagiarism policy. From what I can understand, it seems to be saying that you're allowed to plagiarise once, so long as it's not too obvious and you change the bits she tells you to if she catches you. But if it's a simple copy and paste job[...]

As if plagiarism is ever so cut-and-dry! It seems she can't understand the nuances of it at all, or just that she's determined to ignore them in order to press her own case?

Anyway, it saddens me people are joining her S/X comm that is, in a large part, born out of her own wrongdoing and outright refusal to believe she could have any conscious role in that wrongdoing.

Oh, she definitely tried to press her own case again, to the point of requesting that I change the Bloodclaim post to show her in a more positive light. Oh, and to say that it was only that fic that was at fault, not her as an author. *headdesk*

People are joining her comm, and people are leaving her comm. It's all swings and roundabouts, I guess. :/

I know you doubted yourself lots of times over this but the evidence spoke for itself and it's really sad that people do and think they can get away with things like this. :/

I'm sorry you had to go through it all and now that it has been resolved you can get back to doing the things you love to do.
