Hi! I loved the snippet from WoF. The thing about an ansty story is -- you need to break it up -- the characters can't simply wallow in misery without interruption. You've painted a picture of how deeply Kaiba and Yami love each other, and how much of a family they are -- so it's good instincts to show that, to make the reader feel it. And this bit was absolutely charming. I liked the way they teased each other, and Kaiba's coments about the bloodstained glass. I could just see him bantering about that (lol).

I loved Kaiba's wistful thought: Seto discretely smiled from behind a cup of dark coffee he’d picked up, and thought if he could have this forever, then he would never ask for anything else.

Aw, thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the bantering -- it just seemed appropriate somehow to have Yami and Seto joke about injury or death.

I like that line too. ;) No, joking aside, I really like the thought that Seto is secretly wistful and content -- just not permanently.

You know, you're absolutely right -- it can't be all angst all the time. Otherwise everyone would pretty much be miserable and suffering. ;) I guess I've been writing so many depressing pieces that the happier (or at least content) ones seem so...odd and out of place. I remember cutting out a whole section (or rewriting that section) of a previous chapter (chapter 2? Heh, yeah, my memory's great, isn't it) because it seemed too light-hearted.
