If there was no Shiori's mother, it means they did not keep my favorite scene from the kdrama in this version (Shiori's mother invites Naruse over for dinner, and she cooks a whole bunch of things, including the dish that his mother used to make, and he tries to eat it and basically chokes and bolts to have a brief moment of breakdown in private.
