Kudo Kankuro and Takashi Miike. Can you imagine? It'd be the most insane slasher comedy ever. Teenage schoolgirls would prostitute themselves to musical transvesite samurai in fedoras who play baseball,

I love the confrontation scene. I love that it wasn't over the top, I love Naoto and Naruse's expressions, I love that even when Naoto tried to control his emotions, that one teardrop still fell when he said he will catch Naruse. And OMG - I love when Naruse repeated his line "please hurry up and catch me" now that Naoto finally realized the hidden meaning in Naruse's words. Fucking style.

YES. Loved the last ep, too, his scream when he finally realized Naruse had been playing with him the entire time. All those little comments that went right over his head... a;dflkfjsdf I can't wait for the real, final confrontation, the live-or-die one I assume is coming. I will shriek until I EXPIRE.

"Then you have outlived your usefulness as a vessel for my pleasure."
&hearts! I am so glad I wasn't the only one whose brain went in that direction^^"
This episode was brutal. Amazing, but terribly wince-worthy, especially in the first 15 or so minutes.
And holy shit, Naruse is kind of my hero the way he just calmly saunters in to the police station, fully aware that everyone know exactly who he is and they can't do a damn thing about it
Those may actually be my most favorite 45 seconds in the series so far.
And then of course, they had to switch him back to the angst. Which was deliciously painful.
And fuck the haters, this was an excellent bit of acting. You could see the barely-controlled fury in Naoto's stomping, while Naruse's footsteps were so calm and even, knowing exactly what he was going into. AWESOME.
. . . and that's why I only talk Maou with intelligent people. Are you fucking kidding me? People had problems with the acting in that scene?? It was ( ... )

I don't think anything can top Ikehata's death for me-- so shocking and brutal (I'm still not over the noises, and the bloody hand reaching out, and oh god just thinking about it gives me the creeps). But Noriyoshi calmly watching Souda die... *shudders* Seriously, it's always the quiet ones. Do not fuck with the nice guys.
Do you think they're trying to make up for the lag of the middle eps by killing everyone off as painfully as possible? Serizawa-san next, please!
Are you fucking kidding me? People had problems with the acting in that scene?? It was kind of brilliant.
Not that scene, but complaints in general. >__> I get so tired of the bitching about "overacting" and "overdramatizing." Have those people ever seen a fucking jdrama before? I'm sorry the lead actors use more than eyedrops to convey action.
what kind of floored me in this episode is that he still doesn't seem to acknowledge in any real way that he devastated Tomoo/NAruse's entire life. You don't think so? Naruse ( ... )

I've seen a little whinging about the acting, butt seriously--if they have seen another jdrama, particularly one with youngish males? I don't know what the hell they're smoking, because this verges on brilliantly subtle and nuanced compared to that. And actually, it's pretty good in general. Do I occasionally flinch when Toma makes that weird mouth open and to the side thing that every jdorama actor playing a quasi-punk does? Sure--but now I recognize it as an acting convention and I go with the flow ( ... )

I kind of want to make about 4 icons on this theme--the nice ones or the quiet ones, with some of the recent brooding!Ohno pictures^^
Part of the problem may be that I'm teaching Beowulf right now, and let me tell you the whole blood-vengeance vibe is floating around everywhere ^^"
;___; I still hope Naruse will find a way to make it through. (Actually, during that final scene with the music box, I was fully expecting to hear "Hideo... I'll be joining you soon." It's interesting that he doesn't seem to be planning a murder-suicide for the final showdown-- he doesn't seem to crave death at all. Even though he didn't have anything else to live for before Shiori. I think this fits with wanting punishment, not release.)
I totally thought he would say something like that too. I just don't see him going to jail. Or really, thinking that jail is the appropriate punishment for what he did . . . but death is a bit easier, so maybe his clear self-punishment and loathing would make him want to go to jail? I ( ... )

I flailed, mentally and physically (arms and legs and all) several times!!!
Souda's death. Wow. That beating was... rough. And then to have Noriyoshi finish him off with poison cigarettes. So, so well done. (I love the editing in Maou too, making you think that he dropped the pen on accident at first.)
The footsteps over Souda's phone? YES! And then it was reiterated when Naruse walked up to meet Naoto afterwards (It was a measured and yet deliciously evil walk too...)
Oh I thought of you during the scene where Naoto goes to arrest Kasai. While Kasai's face was somewhat in shadow, the source of light was squarely behind Noriyoshi so you could barely make out his features.
I was really uncertain what would happen with Naruse now that both Shiori and Naoto have found out, but that first confrontation (including that unexpected first punch) was so well done. Naruse was cool, calm, and collected, nothing like the shock and panic when Naoto visited his sister. Now he can also let the anger and vengeance ( ... )

Anyway, I do believe that Naruse means what he says when he urges Naoto to catch the criminal. Right now though, I'm wondering whether he means it in the same way he meant earlier on in the series. At the beginning, he had a clear view of what he wanted out of his revenge. Borrowing from kegom 's theory, he was able to use the law to carry out his murders without (what he though was) any consequence to the "murders". Also he had (or so he thought) thoroughly purged any bit of humanity (or Manaka Tomoo) from himself. So, when he urged Naoto to catch the real criminal, he meant it, but in a taunting way. Naruse at this point did eventually want to be caught, but only exactly when and how he would eventually ochestrate it ( ... )

I LOVE NARUSE'S WALK. I love every dramatic, echoing second of it. I love the shoes of evil. You see those shoes turning the corner, you know you're fucked.
I love love LOVE the way that Naruse and Naoto (not to mention Naoto's co-workers) have to interact now, "knowing" Ryou's true identity but being forced to work through the legal system
YES. Massive, massive balls. Every person in that room knew who he was, and they couldn't do a damn thing about it. AWESOME.
(I wonder if they'll ever search Naruse's apartment... the darkroom of pain might be a bit of a giveaway... Also I can't wait for Naoto's face if/when he finds out Yamano was a co-conspirator. Alllll your sins are ( ... )
