We have a lot of crows that live in my neighbourhood. Yesterday we walked out the front door and saw a crow on the front lawn, killing a mouse. I didn't realize that crows did that! I thought they were scavengers, not predators. But that mouse was writhing around alive, and then it stopped and was obviously dead. The crow dropped the corpse, and

A couple weeks ago, I was walking along to work and saw a raccoon POUNCE!! out of the bushes onto a bird and quick drag it back into the bushes, with the bird's friends squawking after it. I was decidedly nonplussed to see a raccoon, in daylight no less, actually hunting. I thought they just found things and washed them.

Wow. Maybe all the scavenger animals got bored and decided to be more badass and start hunting? We had racoons where I lived when I was little, and all I ever saw them do was try to get into the garbage bins.
