i have to disagree immensly with this. while miracle day lagged in parts, it still was fantastic. i want this show to continue for years to come. i'm tired of people dissing it. if they don't like it then simply don't comment on it. children of earth was amazing. i think torchwood should return, either to the mini-series format of children of earth or the stand-alone episodes of series 1 & 2. i have to favour the former.
I can't see the show continuing for years and years. It's always been erratic in terms of getting renewed and given that RTD is focusing on another show, perhaps Torchwood could get the axe. MD had it's moments but it was too uneven to really stand out though.
I really came to like Torchwood especially the second season. It was never great television or great Science Fiction, but it good and was certainly watchable and did have moments when the writing surpassed all expectations. That said: Miracle Day left me cold, and I wish I cared how or if they resolved the show and relationships, but sorry, no.
Then the Americans flashed the cash and suddenly RTD is fetching the shovel and messing with the corpse. Looking at it realistically. From all of the pre-Miracle Day hype, we expected Jack Harkness-- who is more "American" in manner than British to open a US Branch of TORCHWOOD, or an international one. That would have worked. What we got was a bunch of Welsh Fish out of Water guips.
Torchwood: Does it even deserve a future?ext_1020656February 1 2012, 19:59:21 UTC
As much as I really did enjoy Torchwood during its "Classic" era, Children of Earth was the breaking point for me in terms of its future. While it was exceptionallygood televison, There was no coming back from it - it got too big, too quickly and it left itself little else to do but go bigger

Good points there. I think this show either way, we need confirmation. If it's dead, I'd like to know and if there's a chance for continuation, I'd like to know as well. Series 2 was the show at it's best. COE was excellent but too nihilistic and the deaths felt unwarranted more than anything.
I'd personally like to see us go back to the format of series 1 and 2....fantastic stories and thoroughly entertaining tv!! That said, this must be taken to its conclusion!! Come on BBC, get the finger out!!

Look. It died during Children of Earth. Ianto died, the Hub blow up. The show was DONE.
Then the Americans flashed the cash and suddenly RTD is fetching the shovel and messing with the corpse. And we all know how that went.
For the love of God and Gallifrey just let it die.
