It had been a week since Peter and Katherine had finally slept together. They'd been spending all their free time together, though that particular night, Katherine had told Peter she had to study and that he could spend some time alone. Since his sister Elizabeth was angry with him and Liz's fiance David was siding with her, Peter knew that was pretty much his only option anyway if Katherine was busy. Still, he could think about when they did spend time together, which was always wonderful. It was better than playing chess by himself, after all.
Peter was alone in his little guest house, contemplating the fact that 'spending some time alone' was incredibly overrated when he heard a knock on his door. Fearing it was Elizabeth, whom he hadn't really spoken to since she voiced her dislike for Katherine, Peter froze in place and ignored the knock. A few seconds later the knock came again, more insistent. Peter groaned and he went to open the door but it wasn't Elizabeth, it was Katherine. "Hey, Peter!!!" Katherine yelled, her words slightly slurred.
"Hello, Katherine!" Peter replied, leading her inside and closing the door. He was surprised that she'd shown up but it was a nice surprise. "Did you come to see me?"
"Yeah 'cause you have pretty hair. It all sticks up like this." Katherine stuck her fingers on top of her head indicating that his hair was quite messy.
"Oh. Right." Peter ran a hand through his hair, though he knew nothing could tame it. He'd tried for years. Peter watched Katherine stumble about and he raised his eyebrows. "Katherine...are you...drunk?" Peter asked, confused.
"Yes! I had wine and beer and then this thingy...it sparkled." She mumbled with a silly grin affixed to her face.
"Champagne?"
"Chan...Sham...it tickles." She smiled lazily at Peter and she walked across the room to drape herself on him. "It tickles your throat all the way down."
"It does. It does do that." Peter put his hands around her and he looked her in the eyes. "Why are you drunk?"
"I went out!" Katherine responded cheerfully. "Rememmer! I said I needed the night to go out!"
Peter furrowed his brow. "No, you said you needed the night to study."
Katherine put her hand over her mouth. "Oops!"
Peter sighed, feeling slightly hurt. What was she out doing that he wouldn't be invited to? Was it because he had been a monk and she was embarassed to be with him? "What were you doing?"
Katherine pulled away from him and she walked over to the bed unsteadily. "My friend Phil said we should go for drinks! He likes drinks and I like drinks so we went for drinks."
Peter's face hardened. "Phil?" Another man? "I see."
"Oh, Peter don't be all 'grrr' because Phil is just my friend and he's a friend."
Peter looked at the ground. Sure. "I was just a friend too." He said glumly.
"Ppffft nooo!" Katherine slurred, making her way to his chair so she could sit and make the room stop spinning. "You were special because..because.....because you were a virgin!"
Peter raised his eyebrows again. "What?"
"I devirginised you!" Katherine declared to the room and then she dissolved into giggles.
"But...but you didn't know that! I mean...not at first! You didn't know I was a monk..." Peter hoped this was just the champagne talking. Katherine was being weird.
"Nope I did know! Not that you were a monkey. Hehhehe Monkey! But you were all shy and quiet and silly and awkward and I knew you were just a big virgin and I could take it away!" Katherine raised her arms in victory.
Peter frowned. He felt stupid and used. "You...so it was all a game? You just wanted to see if you could do it?" Peter said, his voice growing angrier and angrier. "You never cared about me at all!?"
"Oooh sshhhhhh no getting mad! I do care about you! 'Cause you have pretty hair like this!" She did the same finger action as before and smiled. "You're not a game, but I did like your innocence!"
Peter was feeling incredibly snarky, which was why he said the next thing out of his mouth. In the end, he wished he hadn't. "My sister said you were only using me. She called you a harpy."
Katherine frowned. Suddenly this wasn't so funny anymore. Her head spun and she gave Peter a dark look and then she hiccuped. "She called me a what?"
"A harpy." Peter said pointedly, crossing his arms.
"I am not a one of those!" Katherine yelled, standing up and swaying dangerously. Peter stepped forward even though they were angry with each other. He didn't want her to get hurt. He put his arm out and she steadied herself against him. "I think your sister is a harpy then!"
Peter shook his head, his tone suddenly no-nonsense. "Hey. Don't call her that."
Katherine pushed Peter back and she stumbled a little, falling against the wall. "So she can call me that?! That's no fair!"
Peter sighed. "I told her she was wrong too. But then you said..." Peter bit his lip. This sucked. "Nevermind. Just forget it." He stepped forward and he helped her stand upright again. "Can we just forget it?" It was the first time he'd said that. It would not be the last.
Katherine stared at him and then she nodded. "Okay. All forgotted!"
Peter smiled a little. "Okay. So did you really come over just to see me?" Peter was quite pleased with that idea.
"Huh? Oh. No!" Katherine walked away from him again. "I need to borrow money! Can you lend me money!?" She knew Peter was a Kemp and the Kemps were loaded.
"You needed to...for what?"
"More drinks!" Katherine said as if it should have been obvious.
"Oh...well I could just come with you and we could-"
Katherine shook her head. "No! Nonono Phil's in the car and he's waiting and I just need some money!"
Peter felt slightly heartsick and very very confused. Katherine was supposed to be his girlfriend. Now she said she'd only gone after him because he was all innocent, she only came by because she wanted money and she was out with some other man?! "Katie...do...do you even like me?"
Katherine gave him an impatient look. "YES, Peter! You are very lovely and I like you and you have a nice body but I have to go nowwww!" She did a little impatient dance and Peter sighed. He crossed to the kitchen and he grabbed some money from his wallet. "Here. Just...I..." Peter didn't know what to say, so he said nothing.
"Thank you!" Katherine grinned and she kissed him on the cheek and slipped the money into her purse. Then she turned and walked away from him, leaving Peter alone once more.
