Your Hero
I wanna be your hero.
She walked away, scoffing at him. She didn't believe he could do it--could save everyone. She didn't think he was capable of anything so extraordinary. She didn't believe he was capable of alot of things.
He couldn't say it didn't hurt, but he couldn't say he blamed her for it, either. She used to believe he could. She used to believe he was the most magnificent and fantastic person in the world. It was entirely his fault why she didn't any more.
He was going to be a hero. And Simone would believe again.
I wanna tear my life apart until there's nothing left but you
She discharged him with a smile and a kiss. She believed he could save them, because he did save one. She wished him luck and bid him on his way with bright and hopeful pleasantries, but her eyes held a hopelessness that betrayed her thoughts.
He couldn't save them all, he wouldn't have even saved the one if not for her--if not for betraying an unspoken promise to the one who waited for him at home.
Maybe he didn't need to be the hero, maybe someone else could be. Maybe all he needed to be was the one she used to know, he could be that for her--he could be her personal hero, even if it meant he couldn't be the hero to everyone else.
I wanna be your knight in shining armor
But I know I'll always be the servant at your feet
She smiled, and he saw that old familiar trust in her eyes again. She said everything he wanted, and nothing he needed. She held his hands, and he breathed her in, but her soul was miles away.
She trusted him. But she couldn't believe in him anymore. She believed in someone else. Thought that one could save the world instead. He wanted to be her hero, but someone else had already swept her away.
She'd never know that her hero was the demon in her dreams, because he would find a way to save her anyway, to save them all. He would be a hero for her, and she would finally see. She would believe in him again.
Give me just one moment and I'll be your everything
The other one ran around in circles--crashing, breaking, crushing. The man tried to say that they could save the people without him, without his help. Tried to say he only hurt, hindered. But who was doing the damage now?
Just one shot. Just one hit, and he could stop it all. He could save the world. He could make her believe in him again--she would love him again like she used to. Like she would have always done if this world wasn't so insane.
One more crash, no need for thought, for pause--just two shots to end it all.
I want to be the life in your eyes, the breath in your smile, but I'll only ever be the salt in your tears
I want to catch you when you fall, sweep you off to a world of fantasy, but I'll only ever drag you down to hell
Her eyes were wide with shock, betrayal, hurt. She reached an arm out to him, but never made it past the chasm between them. To him. But he wasn't her hero. He was her monster.
A single tear dried on her cheek, and the world died with her trust, he belief. Everything he had so carefully constructed crashed like weathered glass to the bloodied ground.
He wanted to hold her, to carry her to safety, to brush away her tears and tell her it was alright...he wanted to feel her warmth in his arms for just one more time.
Her knight pulled her from his arms before he ever got the chance, as strength abandoned him in favor of hopeless, empty, pointless, grief. Laying and sitting in silence, blank twin stares in an empty room of fading memories.
Blood puddled on the cement underneath him, and dyed the sheets an eternal crimson-brown, and the sand slipped slowly through the cracks in the glass, counting in solemnity until the moment the world finally stopped spinning in place.
I'll fall to dust just to be a part of your memory, and fly away to where you are
I wanna be your hero, but I can only ever be your demon
