Bugger, I can't remember his/her name, but the one who did that famous "naked Vietnamese girl running away from evil napalm stuff" would be a good one?

There was one guy who took that famous photo of those american soldiers erecting the flag at a battle (WWII methinks) - the photo has since been turned into a comemorative statue. I can't remember which battle it was, but if I remember I can find out tomorrow at work (it's in my e-mail there).

Have you tried typing "war photography" or similar into google?

Iwo Jaya, or Iwo Jawa or something, was it not?

I read something about that the other day, about it being voted one of the most memorable pictures of the century or something...

How about the bloke who (possibly) lead to the death of the Red Baron in the first world war?

Story goes that the Baron was paranoid about having his photo taken before a mission (maybe he thought it stole your soul, or something stupid like that? ;P), so always avoided them until a post-flight opportunity. Then one day some kid rushed up and took a photo of him before a mission, and a matter of minutes later he had been shot down by a trainee allied pilot... the only time he ever broke from his ritual, and he died because of it...
