In societies standards, face to face is better. You see what the person is really thinking, really feeling, there is more effort made on the part of both parties just to attend said destination. Plus having someone to drink with is a blast.

Though, in my own personal opinion, it doesn't matter the medium. I like to talk to my friends when they get a chance, especially since many of my friends are across the United States or even the globe. So the odds of personal interaction in a meeting place is a snowballs chance in hell. Though even when they are in close proximity, I don't care if I just get a text message. As long as I know my friend is ok, that is all that matters to me.
