Interesting career choice for Haru, and surprise to see Long Feng back in power. Nice story; I enjoyed it.

Well now! I've read Harutara stories (very rarely, though), and I've read Haru-as-Dai-Li stories, but this is the very first story I've ever seen that combines the two elements... and overall quite masterfully, too!

But there's one bit that I just do not understand, at all:
"Long Feng was a dictator! He bent people's minds! How can you possibly defend him!?" she demanded.
"He inspired me," Haru replied simply.

The Haru we knew in the series, had clearly been inspired by his father Tyro. And while I'm at it, the village Haru lived in was a long, long way from Ba Sing Se (pardon, Iroh.) I know what sent him to Ba sing Se in my fic and why he'll eventually be joining Toph's Dai Li, but what sent him there in your fic--and how on earth would someone like Long Feng inspire someone like Haru?

Dai Li!Haru is a thing that has been rattling around in my mind for awhile. I tend to do a lot of writing in the same fic-universe as beckyh2112.

Rest assured, at some point one of us will cover just how Long Feng managed to lure Haru to the Dai Li.

But consider for a moment how Hakoda, Haru, Teo, and the Duke must have felt toward the end of the series, when they were so neatly shunted off-screen for the gaang plus Suki to save the world....

I think Haru/Katara was the first pairing I really shipped in Avatar, all the more because of the natural way they were handled. Shared circumstances and ideals brought them together, and different obligations and goals took them on diverging paths. They had chemistry, though, and could have been a great pair as well as good friends if things were different. I consider them one of the better romances that never were ( ... )
