So my Opa came up behind me and tickled me just now.

I shrieked harsh enough that my throat hurts now.

He started going on in the "you have a weakness" talk, ignoring that I was no longer a child and that I don't like tickle games anymore.

That's not why I'm angry.

The reason I'm angry is that he continued to ignore me when I told him repeatedly that I ( Read more... )

Nope, not Korean.

Whitest white to ever white -- German/Scott/Welsh/Irish/Dutch/God Knows What Else.

Now, when I was a kid -- and I mean a KID, not even ten -- we cousins all loved the tickles games. But I'm almost twenty-six now, and I have grown to hate being tickled, period.

huh. What does opa mean then [oppa in korean means older brother]

flail. that can seem accidental, rather than doing something like mild privacy invasion.

Opa is a German word that means grandfather.

To help distinguish between the grandparental sets, my maternal cousins and I all call our maternal grandparents Oma (grandmother) and Opa.

Here's your solution: "accidentally" smack your tickler when you're flailing. It's not your fault that your limbs go all crazy when that happens. ;D

I'm sorry. I really wish I knew why relatives don't know how to respect them. Probably because they think the rules don't apply.

My parents are the same way about my not liking physical contact. "You used to like it when you're a kid." "But you're my daughter; why can't I give you a hug/pat you on the shoulder/touch your arm?" "But you like leaning against me." My terms of contact. MY terms.
