The Three Strikes policy kind of alarms me. I mean, I can definitely see why it's around if the three strikes are for, y'know, actually really nasty crimes like murder, sexual assault, armed robbery, etc. But when you add things like drunk driving to the list (which is, granted, quite serious, and I know I should think of it as being more serious than it is) as well as things like possession of marijuana or (I think?) petty thefts... It can really mess up some people's lives, especially if they aren't really a danger to society. But hey, I've never committed a crime or had to go through the court system, let alone in the states. Still, at least it was a short trial so you only had to deal with the idiocy for a few days...?
