Spent the whole middle of the day down at Health and Welfare, trying to find out if Tim qualifies for any help with his Medicare payments & Medicare supplements- and if he does, if it will throw me off *my* help. The answer is... we might. Didn't have bank statements with us or printouts from our life insurance's cash out values. Have to get those ( Read more... )

fuckage, yule

What a terrible system. Wishing you much luck on not being "too wealthy" :\ (So weird.)

Would love to see your pretty bird ornaments! :)

Someday I'll find my bloody camera cable or the charger unit and be able to take pictures again! I thought sure it would turn up when I started cleaning the living room, but no joy. I'm stumped at this point, because it's not like I ever took the charger or cable out anywhere.

Our health care system sucks, big-time. And I've always had that problem of being just that little bit too "wealthy," which is vexing.
No; it's discouraging.

In my family's experience (ages ago, when I was still a kid), there never was a tree without a "bad side" which had to be turned to the wall or put into a corner. Once we managed to pick one out which had a trunk so crooked, we couldn't make the thing stand straight and steady, so finally we resorted to tying a piece of cord to the top of the tree and securing the other end of the cord to a small nail driven into the ceiling.

Yeah, I've got this one secured with baling wire to the ceiling. It's more for the cats than anything else, but it *was* a whole lot easier than messing about in the snow looking for big rocks to put in the bucket to shore up the tree, and then trying to tetris the rocks properly to keep the tree at the angle we wanted.

Yeah, their idea of having enough money is ludicrous If we both paid for all the insurance we need, there would be zero money left for anything else.

Ack. I once more have gone through the ridiculous paperwork and fuss to get a break on a very expensive prescription. As we have discussed, it's a lot of work being poor. It's just demeaning. Much of my adult life, I've been just a little too well off to get help. It's a hellish place to be. I hope you can get some of this worked out.

I love colored lights and glitter.

I am like a large, ill disciplined child whenever there is glitter and lights!

Well, yeah.

In my Reclaiming phase, I hung out with some women who called themselves the Glitter Whores.

I picture you being a grown-up girl like my granddaughters, with their glitter, flip sequins, and sparkly accessories.

I hate Christmas, but I do like the lights. Bring. Them. On.

I am a total glitter whore. Glitter eye shadow, sequins, beads, metallic threads, lights (especially if they blink!), mirror balls... I have no intention of growing up. When I started into the hospice volunteer training, I asked the volunteer supervisor if there was a dress code. It would have been a deal breaker if I couldn't dye my hair ridiculous colors, wear my top hat, or put on purple lipstick!

I celebrate Christmas, but not as a religious holiday. It's a secular and family thing to me. My true holy day is the Solstice. But I'll celebrate pretty much anything that doesn't screw over someone (I WON'T do Columbus day)! And, yes, the lights. They are the best.
