Spent the whole middle of the day down at Health and Welfare, trying to find out if Tim qualifies for any help with his Medicare payments & Medicare supplements- and if he does, if it will throw me off *my* help. The answer is... we might. Didn't have bank statements with us or printouts from our life insurance's cash out values. Have to get those

No; it's discouraging.
In my family's experience (ages ago, when I was still a kid), there never was a tree without a "bad side" which had to be turned to the wall or put into a corner. Once we managed to pick one out which had a trunk so crooked, we couldn't make the thing stand straight and steady, so finally we resorted to tying a piece of cord to the top of the tree and securing the other end of the cord to a small nail driven into the ceiling.

Yeah, their idea of having enough money is ludicrous If we both paid for all the insurance we need, there would be zero money left for anything else.

In my Reclaiming phase, I hung out with some women who called themselves the Glitter Whores.
I picture you being a grown-up girl like my granddaughters, with their glitter, flip sequins, and sparkly accessories.
I hate Christmas, but I do like the lights. Bring. Them. On.

I celebrate Christmas, but not as a religious holiday. It's a secular and family thing to me. My true holy day is the Solstice. But I'll celebrate pretty much anything that doesn't screw over someone (I WON'T do Columbus day)! And, yes, the lights. They are the best.
